July 10th at Fasig-Tipton

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

Anna Ford is the Fundraising and Thoroughbred Program Director for New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University with a degree in Communications. Ford is a World Champion Equestrian, has studied and instructed internationally and is Masters Certified through the Certified Horsemen’s Association. In 2008, Ford published the book Beyond the Track; Retraining the Thoroughbred From Racehorse to Riding Horse, receiving the American Horse Publications Award and nomination to the Dr. Tony Ryan book awards. Ford is actively involved in the racing industry and represents the Robsham Stables LLC as Stable Manager. She also sits on the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Board and is a member of the NTRA’s Aftercare Committee.

For twenty one years New Vocations has provided a safety net for retired racehorses leaving the track and on average takes in over 400 horses a year. Starting with a single farm in Dayton, Ohio the program has grown to six facilities in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Serving over 40 racetracks, New Vocations works directly with owners and trainers in need of an aftercare program for their horses. New Vocations has a sound adoption system in place that is proven to move a large number of horses in a rather short period of time. The focus is on adoption verses retirement, believing that each horse deserves to have a home and a purpose. For more information visit
