Pete Bradley

Pete BradleyPeter R. Bradley III has been acknowledged as one of the top bloodstock agents in America. Pete grew up on a cattle ranch in Northern California and attended the University of California at Davis. Soon his passion for racing would lead him to Hollywood Park, where he got his start, like most, walking hots. He quickly moved through the ranks on the Southern California circuit to become foreman and later assistant trainer to Gene Cleveland, where he worked with horses like Grade I winner Princess Karenda. Pete decided that his ultimate success in the thoroughbred industry would require a move to Kentucky. He accepted a position as farm manager for Brookdale Farm, and explored the business end of the industry during a four-year association with Cromwell Bloodstock Agency, where he was in charge of private sales. He was later lured away by world-renowned Lane’s End Farm, where he became the head of their Bloodstock Division. Since then Pete has cultivated his own business in the thoroughbred industry and has traded the world’s top horseflesh year after year. Bradley Thoroughbred’s has been a top performer with outstanding credentials since 1995.

Doug Cauthen

Doug CauthenDoug grew up working in all aspects of the horse industry thanks to his parents’ involvement in the business. Besides working on the backside of River Downs and Turfway Park, Doug was lucky enough to work for Hall of Fame trainers Laz Barrera and P.G. Johnson in New York, as well as working a Summer in England under trainer Clive Britain. Doug also served two years as assistant trainer to leading two-year-old consignor Jerry Bailey.

Doug received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in Equine Marketing and Management, and later graduated from the University of Kentucky Law School in 1993. He briefly practiced law in Lexington with Wyatt, Tarrant, and Combs before returning full-time to the thoroughbred industry. In the late 90’s, Doug worked for Prestonwood Farm marketing their stallions, including helping with the syndication and promotion of Distorted Humor and Victory Gallop. It was through Prestonwood that Doug was introduced to Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt, who bought Prestonwood in 2000. Doug was named President of WinStar in 2001. After spending 10 years helping develop WinStar, Doug launched Doug Cauthen Thoroughbred Management LLC, which is a bloodstock management company. The focus of DCTM is the development of all aspects of the clients’ equine assets, and the management thereof. As a function of the development and execution of clients’ goals, purchasing horses privately and at auction is one of the services offered by DCTM.

Doug lives in Lexington with his wife Katie, who is heavily involved in the business, and his daughter Campbell, who is about ready for her first pony.

Doug has served on the following boards:
KEEP: founding member
Race for Education: founding member
Breeder’s Cup Board Member

Mike Ryan

Mike Ryan“Buying a horse, be it a weanling, yearling, 2-year-old in training or a broodmare, and witnessing that horse reach its full potential on the racetrack or as a producer, that is my passion; that is what drives me. The horses I purchase are a reflection of me and their success is of paramount importance to me. I am passionate about the development of each individual and I track their progress as keenly as I do that of my own horses.”

Mike has been involved in the Thoroughbred industry on a personal and professional level for over 40 years. His passion for the Thoroughbred industry has deep roots, being a third-generation horseman raised on the family farm in County Meath, Ireland. In 1974 Mike headed to Canada to E.P. Taylor’s Windfields Farm for his first thoroughbred job this side of the Atlantic, and by 1979 he had founded his own bloodstock agency in Canada before settling in Lexington in 1981 to establish Mike Ryan Bloodstock.

Over the years Mike has both bred and raced many graded stakes winners including SUMMER FRONT, LARAGH, MORE THAN REAL and HOT DIXIE CHICK and has a purchase history of over 250 stakes winners and numerous G1, Breeders’ Cup and Eclipse Award winners including PALACE MALICE, THORN SONG and SAINT LIAM.
